MHAIA and the avocado industry in Mexico are committed to the environment and sustainable development of the avocado producing region. This commitment to responsible farming and sustainable practices goes beyond the protection and conservation of the land and environment, with initiatives that procure the economic security of the communities in Michoac\u00e1n and ensure the quality of Mexican avocados.MHAIA,\u00a0in partnership with the\u00a0Association\u00a0of Avocado Exporting Producers and Packers of Mexico (APEAM), not only follows all U.S. and Mexican regulations and guidelines related to pest control, deforestation and other important environmental and labor matters, but also has\u00a0proactive initiatives and partnerships that contribute to a sustainable development of the avocado producing communities,\u00a0including a partnership with LaCruz Habitat Protection Project (dba Forests For Monarchs).MHAIA has been the foremost benefactor of\u00a0Forests\u00a0For Monarchs\u00a0since 2017. With this partnership 1.4 million trees have been planted in and around the biosphere and watersheds of Michoac\u00e1n to protect the natural habitat of the monarch butterfly. With MHAIA’s support, 3,153 acres across 66 communities in Michoac\u00e1n have been positively impacted with the trees enjoying an impressive survival rate of more than 65%.
